Depends on what you want to do. I know last on my list would be a buttplate(rifleman).

I was a radio operator, but served in the grunt for 2.5 of my four years. Even though life in the grunts is tougher than the rest of what the Corps deals with, I enjoyed it more.

I spent my last year in a Comm Co. working for the CG of 1MARDIV. They really didn't do anything at all. Time went by much quicker in the grunts. And, it was more of a brotherhood as apposed to the rest of poge(any MOS that isn't infantry) units.

Good luck, and Semper Fi.

The Marine Corps recruiter cannot guarentee a specific MOS, howvever, you can be guarenteed a field. 0300 is the field designation for basic rifleman. Once you arrive at SOI (school of infantry, or whatever they call it these days) you will be assigned your specific MOS...ie...rifleman (0311), machine-gunner (0331), mortarman (0341), LAV crew-member (03??), assault-gunner (0351) or TOW-gunner (0352). However, you can let the recruiter know what your preference is and the Marine Corps may entertain it (no promises though).

If you're going active duty, they'll tell you which way is the best to go. It is the needs of the Corps. If you feel like carrying around a machine gun, go with the weapons company, but hope you don't get stuck with mortars. Just stick with 0311 (rifleman) you'll have fun.
