I actually use oatmeal in a lot of my raw food -- my house dogs get it (mixed with boiled hamburger and sometimes shredded zucchini) nearly every morning for breakfast.
Whole grains are fine for dogs, just as they are for people. As others have said, they shouldn't replace a balanced, premium dog food for every day nutrition, but you are certainly doing him no harm by giving them to him.

Sounds healthier than alot of thing that my yorkie manages to eat!!! Generally most "bland" foods are ok for dogs, I used to live outside of the US where "dog food" is not sold in stores, so we would cook for our dog every day with a base of corn meal, oats, "cereal"... etc.
Plus my yorkie now eats sushi, seaweed, herbs from the garden, all sorts of fruits and veggies, .. the list goes on.
I think the key (for a dog not used to "people food" is to introduce it slowly and see if there is any reaction to the food.
Best.

As long as it's just the oats themselves. Peanut butter is liked by many animals as well.
My dog and I share oats together most mornings.
Oats aren't a replacement for his regular food. Any table scrap should be given in strict moderation.

It won't hurt him. Basically with food. I go like this if it is bad for me then it is bad for the dog.

Sure. Those are fine for him as long as he doesn't have an allergy to them, and it is just augmenting his regular food.

The are not bad for him, but they are not really that good for him either. I would just not give him too much.
