By going to Microsoft's website you should beable to download the newest version. I recomend downloading Windows Media Player 11. I have it and I love it Here is a link:

I don't think you have deleted it, only the shortcut to it.
DO NOT use system restore.
instead go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player and in that folder there is a file called wmplayer.exe.
create a shortcut to this on your desktop or just run the file directly from there.

Go to the Microsoft Webpage and download it from the download center. You can get the latest version (WMP 11) from there too if you have a genuine Windows copy. Or check your recycle bin to see if you can simply restore it from there.
