If you sign up to join the army and don't expect to go to war, your very naive. It isn't as if they were forced to go, when you join the military you should know what to expect, active duty or reserve.

In the case of war, the reserves will not be called upon first to go to it. Active duty personnels will be the first. Reserves don't have as much knowledge or as much training as do the active duties.
Depending upon the unit, some reservists will be called to their duty stations and eventually some will be sent abroad, maybe to occupy/guard a position, or maybe for humanitarian services, but usually nothing compared to an active duty personnel. And that is if only they're in a combatitive unit.

If I was so out of my mind as to join the war.. I mean the army I would go as reserve, since they are supposed to go last, Then again am half Hispanic so I would probably be sent on the first row lol. But I would go for the reserve since I have children. I would go as infantry though because i would like to shoo something even if it my own foot.

The contract reads the same for reserves as active. I knew what to expect when I signed the dotted line. I had fun over there. It was crazy. The only thing illegal was drugs and alcohol. Aside from that the firefights were intense, and we all came home in one piece. We had a good team.

the reserves were not called up first. They were called up to support the active duty who took part in the fighting.
There were so many active duty already deployed that the military had to call up the reserve/NG to do their part.

If you joined the reserves and did not know that you get deployed to then you did not do the proper research before you joined. I mean really, did they think they were just gonna get paid to do nothing for 6 years?

You would have to be an idiot to think that. The Guard and reserves are structered to supplment the active duty. The Guard and reserve are not the boy scouts.

My son joined the Army Reserves to get college money. He was in his 1st week of boot camp when 9/11 happened.
The soldiers like him never expected to be called up at ALL, yet he is in Iraq right now.
His obligation was clear, and his honor was at stake--so he went...just like ALL of our loved ones who were called. I just pray he comes home alive at the end of his tour.
