Don't think I had it in the fridge too long has it gone off or can I use it? It's a normal brown um 'cooking' onion. Cheers!

No its only where the onion enzymes are maturing, as turning to seed, and they start to go bitter, but it won`t hurt you., if you use in your cooking. It dosen`t have any taste in it.

Green patches on brown onions and potatoes are poisonous, do not eat.

If the onion is still firm and not soft or shriveled you can cut away the green patches, if the green is going right the way through the flesh I would discard it completely and just get yourself another onion.

throw it out and buy more. whatever you do don't eat it!
