How can you know more than nothing?

Now that is faith. To believe in something you have not seen but know it's there.
A man was at a barber shop getting a hair cut. The barber said there is no God, if there were there would be no one hurting or no bad would happen.The man leaves and see's a person on the street with long greasy hair. He goes back and says to the barber, there are no barbers I just saw a man with long greasy hair if your a barber how could this be. The barber says yes I'm a barber
he just hasn't found me yet. Same applies. I would rather live my live believing and find out there isn't than not beleivg and find out there is.

Strangely yes there are some atheist that can quoted you the bible from flap to flap, and there are some Christians that can't even tell you the first book of the bible. There is something that my mom always says and that is " The biggest sinners know the bible like the back of their hand" that is true. I think that most atheist are atheist because they have had an experience in their lives where they felt that God abandoned them which is sad because you may not be able to depend on your job, family,friends but you can always depend on God

I spent a year studying Christianity at university although I'm an atheist. That fact seems to annoy some believers-I don't know why.

sure , because for some reason or another, atheist have had a closer encounter with God, or simply in there lives something really bad happen, that they stop believing that God exsistl.

Well first of all, to be an atheist, that person would have no belief in a God. so for a person to be a true atheist, i don't think they would know the first thing about religion.

All anyone knows is some ideas ABOUT so called God(s). Noone knows God, which is the Atheist point entirely.

I think its because an atheist caulculates his decesion by the facts and christians by what they told to believe

Some here certainly know much more than the average believer. I however do not make that claim. I believe there are some believers however that know even less than I.

No. But I do think in general we understand more about WHY we believe the way we do.
