Ok i've been blocking radars for years slamming on my brakes just in time before the radar bounces off my car. However, I just got hit with a laser yesterday and my detector went crazy. I slammed the brakes and was doing 87 in a 70 but he never stopped me. I heard lasers need something to reflect such as a front license plate, head lights etc. Does anyone have any ideas how to avoid a laser besides a laser jammer?

Good luck, the laser is pretty tough to defeat. I was certified to use them in traffic enforcement for the last few years of my career.
Actually I wasn't that impressed with them, I guess old habits die hard, I preferred radar or stop watch.
Almost all of the gadgets you see advertised have one thing in common they don't work and they take your money. The field tests I saw of them was horrendous, they didn't work well and some of them actually enhanced the ability of the speed measuring device to detect you.
As for your experience, you were just VERY lucky my friend. The cool thing about lasers is they can check anyone's speed. We used them at school fun nights to see how fast kids could run, (by the way 15 mph was the fastest I saw and it was a 16 year old).

Wear an aluminum foil hat and wet shoes when you drive. If you do that you'll be invisible. Totally true. Or just don't speed.
The Laser does have to hit something like the car, most people aim at the license plat. The old Radar used to cover a braod area and pick up the fastest moving object it the path. The Laser can catch you from a long ways away. Further than most decetors. The Laser Jammers are Illegal in many States. But just so you know, whenever I stop someone for any violation and I can see they either have a radar detector or I can see they had one stuck to their windshield, they get no breaks.

The laser unit works differently then the radar unit that is installed in most police cruisers...A hand held unit is used and the officer from his training will be able to visually tell if a car is speeding. They will confirm this by pointing the laser unit at the entire car and pulling the trigger...At that time a reading comes back and you will get the cars reading or speed....The officer only needs to have the laser hit any point on the car to get a accurate reading...You can not beat the laser radar and their is no effective devise on the market that "JAMS" the signal...Good luck and slow down a little.

No you cant avoid it without a jammer plain and simple. Alot of people dont know how to use a radar/laser detector. You have about a second with laser. you were just lucky you must have got your speed down to a level that the cop wasn't enough to waste his time. Its not for speeding its to help you be aware of your speed and avoidance of speed traps. Your were going 17mph over the limit, you must have slammed on them brakes!!!!! if u go the speed limit, u wont have to worry about laser. laser is an extremely narrow beam of light that detectors wont pick up unless it happens to be directly in front of the gunner. a few degrees off, and it wont pick it up. the laser is aimed like a gun, and it is selective on who it targets. speed is displayed instantly, and can detect u from almost a half mile out with ease. by the time u see the shooter, u've already been tracked.

If your detector goes off, the laser has already hit reflected off your car. Yes, the laser, just like the radar, needs something to reflect off of. However, your entire car is something to reflect off of. The best way to avoid a ticket is to avoid breaking the law.

"Slam on the brakes just before radar bounces of my car" Where in the world taught you that trick? Radar travels at 186,000 per second....the speed of light, no way you are going to do ANYTHING before rdar hits your car.
You should have your license taken away for "slamming on your brakes" at 87 mph....
