As a parent, we have one goal for you as our child. It is to make you the best person we can. We want you to be successful in school, be popular with your friends, be healthy and happy. We do not take pleasure in punishing you. We want to teach you how to make good decisions. Try to take a look from your parents eyes sometimes.

Some parents do get a bit wacky as their children start thinking for themselves, and become suspicious and punitive.
If you are unfortunate enough to have parents with issues, try to talk to them calmly and directly about the problem as things come up: Don't say "Why are you always picking on me". say "Why are you yelling about my room being a mess when it is clean now? How can I stop being yelled at if it makes no difference? Nobody should have to be yelled at all the time."

On the other hand, if you are the one pushing their buttons, well... you know what you need to do...they are telling you.

well. speaking as a parent, i don't think i'm mean to my kids. sometimes they don't like the decisions i make, but i think i make them either to protect them or to try to guide them. my son is 18 and he describes me as "a way cool mom". so i guess i'm doing ok.---i don't know what your parents have done to make you think they are mean---but let me tell you of a few things my dad did to us kids growing up--and then you decide if your folks are really mean or not.
1. he made us work with him in his salvage work from early in the morning til sometimes after dark.it was tiresome, dirty, hard work. (he did what he wanted to with the money) 2. he whipped us with sticks, hoses, wires (whatever he could get his hands on.)3.he made my 3 brothers 2 sisters and me clean out an old dairy barn, it had been there for 20 years. we had 4 hours or he would beat us,then give us a little more time and if we didn't have it done, we would get it again.4.i remember when i was 10 we had to pick berries in the summer time to sell for money, he would keep the money. we would stay back on that hill from before the sun came up til 12 or 1 come home and at 4 go back and pick as many as we could until dark. 5. when my sister wanted to leave home he beat her with a set of jumper cables(you know, for the car) she had bruises all over back, breast and legs. ------so think about if your parents are really mean--or if you just don't like their decisions for you right now. Good Luck

What you perceive as mean now, you will learn to appreciate it
as love and caring later on.
