What is the date that employers have to deliver W2's to employees?

I know there is a limit, but I can't remember what it is.

If they hand them to you, must be by January 31. If they mail them, they just have to be in the mail by January 31, so could be another few days before you actually have it.

It may be by January 31. So that everyone is able to get their taxes done on their own time.

They must be postmarked and mailed by January 31st of the following tax year.
