In my experience, a B. Tech is a degree given by a technical institute or trade school. It is not at all the same as a B. Sci. (B.S.) given by an accredited university. In Engineering, a B.S. makes you an engineer with an office while a B. Tech makes you a technician with a workbench in a shop. That is a pity, because I know of at least one technical school that turns out very good people who have spent a lot of time and money to get a second-class degree. And, it varies with the field. In engineering, a B.S. makes you an engineer. In physics, it makes you nothing at all. So, check within your profession and find out what is right. Do not ask the technical school.
