If you can't get out of the house you would be overcome by the smoke before you would burn. Get out as fast as possible. Don't stop to pick up anything and don't look back. Fires increase very rapidly.
If you are trapped in a room and can't get out that way, Do not open the door. Stuff clothing under the door to keep the smoke out. If you have access to water, wet the clothing. Stay as close as possible to the floor. The smoke is thinner there.
