It is true. A lot of cats carry a bacteria that is called "toxoplasmosa". This bacteria is known to make women ill. This is especially dangerous when the woman is pregnant, because the illness can cause abnormalities to the child. The disease also might lead to schizofrenic. This is because the bacteria settles in the brain and causes pressure on the brain itself. I hope this is enough information.

Toxoplasmosis,a parasite, is harmless to most individuals but can be harmfull to pregnant women and their fetuses. Cats also carry unusual bacteria in their mouths. A (deep) cat bite should always be seen by a doctor.

Yes, though I've only heard that a woman should be worried about it if she is pregnant as it causes more harm to the baby where as she can overcome it. I've always been told to put my cats outside when I was pregnant and to stay away from the kitty litter.

well, i don't know about that. of course there are certain diseases that can be caught by humans from certain animals. but we always had cats growing up, my mom still does, and none of us have ever caught anything from them.
