Lots of vitamin C. Works for me.

"At first sign of cold or flu, begin taking at least 8 g (8000 mg) of vitamin C as ascorbic acid every twenty minutes for 3 to 4 hours until bowel tolerance, and then smaller dosages of 2-4 g every 4-6 hours for ten days to prevent recurrence."

Get a cool mist humidifier, and add 1 pint of hydrogen peroxide to a gallon of water. Run that in the bedroom while you sleep. That helps the body clean up the mess. Your body is making hydrogen peroxide to disinfect itself, so you are just helping out, not using some foreign chemical. Hot shower helps to loosen things up. If the head is stuffed up, sniff some weak salt water up your nose. That will open ALL of the sinus cavities in the head. (over the sink of course)

My dad always swore by the following:

Take in about 32 ounces of hot liquid that contains lemon (vitamin C). Mom would make up hot lemonade, and for daddy, would lace it with a tot of brandy (carbohydrates for energy).

He would then put on 2 layers of socks, sweat pants, t-shirt and sweat shirt and would go to bed with extra blankets, cover up to his chin and sleep and sweat. He would usually feel better in a day.

I should take my own advice. I did yesterday, except for the covering up to the chin and sleeping part, because I had some good books to read. So I am going back to bed today to try to continue to recover - but I am still taking the books so I probably won't feel totally recovered by tomorrow.

Best wishes.
