There was a book my mother was reading in the late 70's that started with the cops finding a head in the toilet. I snuck a peak at this book when I was a kid but I have no idea what book it is. I'd love to read it now that I'm an adult and my mom has past on so I can't ask her.

The scene happens it the first chapter of the book and its about detectives coming to a crime scene.
