Polo and Khakis and new sneakers or walking shoes are fine. This is not a formal interview for a particular school or department. This is not a portfolio review where your look is as important as your presentation. This is more than likely a group tour of the campus layout, some overview lectures to the group about the merits and offerings and schools of the university, financial aide information, etc., etc. Very general group tour stuff. You may be able at this time to visit the department of your intended major, touring some of the classrooms, etc. but again, very informal, information gathering tour only...For this kind of tour or visit to the campus you should show up clean and dressed neatly, and be prepared to do a lot of walking about the campus. You will want to represent yourself well, but also be dressed for a walking tour, which means 'nice casual' clothing. Good luck with your education.

Don't wear a T-shirt that says, "I Love New York" or have a bag strapped around your shoulder. Also, a lot of tourists wear khakis. Maybe you should avoid that as well.

And also, don't look around too much. Most tourists stare at the skyscrapers for like hours and when they get to Times Square, their jaw just drops open and they start talking like crazy.

Things not to wear if you don't want to look like a tourist:

sneakers
jeans (especially jean-shorts)
fanny pack
a camera around your neck

Urban dress will allow you to blend in.
Darker colors seem to be favorable in Manhattan

a light jacket... (with a light scarf to make it fashionable, if youre a girl that is.) or anything that is comfy... and oh, good shoes! trust me. make sure you bring umbrella too! march is spring season in here. (wet season) and people dont care if you look like a tourist or not... they dont care and besides there's too much tourist around to judge what people wear...

Fortunately in New York, you can wear almost anything. Especially go for funky:) You'll blend right in.

Anything or nothing will be fine. Just don't walk around with a subway map. Very tourist-y

We are a ''come as you are'' city, although it's still going to be chilly in March, so dress real warm! See you soon!

Just wear what you like. Anything you would wear on a normal school day. Trust me, that's what everyone does.
