Is it okay for a 13 year old to get her ears pierced? Seems that the vast majority of society is okay with this, so why not a navel piercing? As for responsibility of the individual, if they can't keep their navel piercing clean, then similarly they shouldn't have their ears pierced either.
And in response to the person who brought up the case of reproductive organs being harmed through a navel piercing, any piercing holds the potential for complications. The potential for damage to internal organs from a navel piercing is at the extreme and near impossible end of the spectrum, there is a greater chance of dying in a car accident everytime you get on the road, or choking to death on food everytime you eat. Bringing up such a rare case scenario serves no purpose unless you also advocate that we stop eating and riding in cars as well.

I would say no. The pain involved in a belly piercing is much worse than an ear piercing. The healing process is much slower and can get extremely irritated - nothings pretty about a pusy belly -

Not at all. If it isn't done correctly or if the child doesn't keep the area thoroughly cleaned it could lead to infection and serious damage (there have been cases where the reproductive organs have become infected and women are no longer able to have children because of infection). So the answer is no, no, no!

If her parents don't have a problem with it nobody else has the right to say anything. My mom took me down and got mine done when I was 14, she was even the one who suggested it. But I have friends whose parents' wouldn't let them until they were 16-17 and one friend whose parents' told her they would never sign for it and so she had to wait until she was 18.

at 13, you are too young. wait until you are 16. don't try to grow up too soon. the only reason to have a belly button ring is to show it off. at 13, you are too young to be wearing clothes that are considered "sexy" enough to show it off. just wait for a few years.

No i think that is disgusting. You should wait until your 18 because they get infected more easily then a lip peircing will and leave terrible scars.

If you take good care of it and your parents are okay with it, I guess. My parents won't let me get anything but my ears pierced while I'm living in their house.
