I was just watching this episode of Catherine tate, really funny, but was wondering, what would English sound like to foreigners? like dutch or something. if there is anyone there whos first language is not english, what did it sound like to you before you could speak it?

A bunch of clippy vowels with frequent s sounds, kind of like a cross between Swedish and German but without the upward voice inflections from the Swedish language and much softer than the German language.
Does this help?

it was ok, my first language is bangla, but we studied english in school but never spoke it at all. I hv been in the usa for more than 1 year now, and i still struggle with my english, i think i at least do, but some of my american friends said My english is just ok. Now if I watch a movie, sometimes I dont understand what they are saying, but other time i do understand. It all just depends on how much of a good listener you are and also those english slangs. Sometimes even some peoples english sound like they spoke one word, but they actually said couple of sentences allready.

well it depends on the country you were raised in.
We used to learn english when i was really young i mean 7, or 8 years old.
It was a little difficult when I first came to the US, some 3 years ago. Now, I am ok in English but SOMETIMES I feel like I have accent.
I would try to speak English more and more.

If they never heard English before it would be unintelligible or sound foreign. If they have heard it before, but don't really understand it, it would sound English to them.

that's a very interesting question! I know to Bristish people we sound plain and draggy, but that's more on the accent end. I am curious to see what responses you'll get.

To me (a Romanian) it sounds rather musical, especially the American accent. Other adjectives to qualify it: strong, confident, "smiling", smart (I cannot explain why, it's just the impression it leaves me)...but sometimes too fast to understand

like when you hear real english ppl speaking and you can barely understand them.
aside from that, it sounds kind of like russian, or german, if german was spoken a little faster
