If you have the cable, sure. It is a better quaility video feed over the regular RCA connections. If you have a component output on the DVD player and and component input on your TV, use that one. It is superior to both. But if your choice is S Video or RCA connector, use the S Video.

Depends on what type of tv you have. If you have HDTV then component or HDMI is the best video quality option. If you have a standard definition tv wiuthout RGB connections, then you should use S-Video. It's better looking than RCA (red and white connections).

You haven't said what kind of TV you have. Assuming that it is capable of S Video input, by using it, you should notice a better picture display. The reason is that this signal has separate signals for the color display thereby enhancing the picture.

S video is better than RCA, components are better than S video, HD is best.

You need to look at your TV connections and your DVD connections and use the highest quality common connection.

Here is the quality from worst to best:

Composite (yellow)
S-Video (black)
Component (red, green, blue)
VGA (15-pin)
BNC (5 wire)
DVI (white digital)
HDMI (black digital)

if it has HDMI or component and your tv has them also HDMI would be best, then component, but if its between S-video and composite i would go with S-video
