Think about it this way. The Bible clearly promises that God answers prayers. For example, in Mark 11:24 Jesus says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." And billions of Christians believe these promises. You can find thousands of books, magazine articles and Web sites talking about the power of prayer. According to believers, God is answering millions of their prayers every day.

So what should happen if we pray to God to restore amputated limbs? Clearly, if God is real, limbs should regenerate through prayer. In reality, they do not.

Why not? Because God is imaginary. Notice that there is zero ambiguity in this situation. There is only one way for a limb to regenerate through prayer: God must exist and God must answer prayers

Man, you are the FIRST amputee I've ever heard ask this question, and you deserve beaucoup credit for not mentioning it. Do you have a voice recognition program to navigate on the computer?

Of course, there is no god, and no supernatural power on earth can restore your arms, but I hope that medical science can help you get some return to functioning ASAP.

Peace to you.

If you believed you were a talented superstar, would it happen? No, you'd have to work for it. Same thing with prayer, you have to dedicate your life to hearing God's word, only then will you be pure enough to recover an amputated led.

Granted I've never done this, that was pure faith talking, but with lots of practice I hope to do it one day, so if I ever do, I'll look you up.

(By the by, this question would make a lot more sense if you actually had a family member who was amputated)

This may appear as "lame" however; we choose to come to Earth and exist in physical form so our soul can experience many number of things

A journey of an individual is unique and for whatever reason it is there's alone (way to experience)

The reason I believe that something as you suggest does not happen is because the persons' true desire is NOT to "repair" the limb. The miracles as portrayed in the Bible referring to Jesus occurred because he (Jesus) was at the level of awareness that many of us are desiring to attain.

For those that may not believe that God does not answer prayers maybe offer yourselves some situations (on a smaller level) and see. God does answer ones request however; the request must be truly authentic on all levels of ones consciousness.

God doesn't heal amputees because God (if he exists) doesn't heal *any* physical conditions.

In most conditions there is a lot of variation in the course and prognosis of the disease: cancers sometimes spontaneously remit, and occasionally even serious infections may be unexpectedly clear naturally. God believers attribute these occasional pheneomena to "miraculous healing", but strangely don't blame him for the vast majority that don't get better.

Limbs don't ever naturally regrow in humans.

in the the verse you quote, Jesus was addressing believers.
God answers the prayers of those who have a relationship with Him (Jesus Chirst) according to God's Will,
not the person's wants.
God will most often get you through a situation, not get you out of it.
Being angry with God will get you nowhere.
blaming others for your fate, ie. God, is a sign of a lack of taking personal responsibilty for your own actions.

So what Sawyer (above) is saying is that amputees have lost faith in god. or maybe he didn't read the question correctly, or maybe he chose to ignore the real question as he has no answer. Many Christians would argue god lets us do our own thing and hope we can find the error of our ways, myself i find that a very weak argument.

I feel your frustration. I know that there is a God and alot of what makes God God is energy. An energy like no other. Some of us feel it more than others, yet while some of us feel God's favor, we cannot begin to fathom why 28,000 children die of hunger each day. I feel your pain. Go with God. There is much unexplained, but I know what he has done for me that I would clearly define as supernatural.

Who?

God doesn't heal amputees or prevent bad things from happening to good people because he/she doesn't exist.

I you want to make it possible for amputees to heal themselves then you need to look at some of the work being done by scientists. It isn't possible right now, but they are working on it.

Because praying for a new leg, if not needed to serve the Lord, is a vain prayer. Also, if one is simply praying to walk or for mobility or dexterity, the Lord has provided prosthetics and rehabilitation.

Many people commonly overlook gifts of the Lord and answers to prayer because it is not what they materialistically desire, but what God has graciously given.

God does, and he has. but it relies more on the person getting healed. one factor a person has not become healed, is the level of their faith. most people lose their faith after the first attempt when it doesn't succeed. but God is testing our Faith to see if we really are loyal. when he sees that person whose faith is still Strong, and they have not given up on God. the ones who still truly believes they will be healed. those are the type of people who become restored!
