I have 2 pit bulls. They are currently inside, i brought them in cause the cold weather, But they seem to like it outside. They are always trying to get out. I have a kennel that is partially covered and an insullated dog house with hay on the ground. I'm worried if i put them outside they will get to cold. It gets near 0 sometimes at night here, im in central illinois. Is it to cold for them even with hay, insulated dog house, and partialy covered kennel?

Dogs are pack animals, and they need to be with their family. Of course they can go in the kennel to run and play, but supervise them if they're trying to break out. If they escape, there's no way of knowing if you'll ever get them back. At night, they really should sleep indoors. Especially considering the breed, they need to be around people (and other animals) as much as possible.

They will be fine outside at that temperature with the doghouse you described. Two dogs in a kennel that has shelter and hay to insulate from the ground would curl up together and be warm and toasty. There are homeless people that would be fighting to get into digs like that if you didn't have the dogs inside. You sound like a good pet owner and that makes them very fortunate critters.

It sounds like you have it mostly covered. Does the door to the dog house have a flap over it to stop the wind, rain, snow from getting in?I If the dogs seem happy and healthy outside then go ahead, but I think at night I would bring them indoors.

Pits uslly do not like being out all the time and have senative skin. I beleive in letting a dog be where they want if they like out better than in then yes let them stay out. Watch if they seem to be not happy bring them back in. I would put some blankets out in thier dog house and bring them in for part of the day just so they know they are part of the family. Wild dogs and wolfs saty out all the time and our pets are just wolfs in a mask.

Why not just leave them inside during the night. Outside dogs become forgotten. If thet are in you will spend more time with them. Pit bulls are not siuted for outdoor living. Will they live- yes but it isn't the best situation for them

sounds as if you are looking after them good ,dont worry when the dog gets cold it will want to get back in .let them run around when they want ,just make sure they dont get wet ,they got a short coat so could catch a cold and watch it from going from hot to cold
but also their skin is very thick so dont worry too much if they start to shivver bring them back in

Probably not, if they want to go outside, they may be hot antured. If they start whining at the door, then you'll know that they are cold--then let them in.They probably want to run and play too.Sounds like you have enough out there to keep them warm......

all dogs and most mammals can live outside with proper shelter and im sure they will be fine because we have a bald dog and he is an outside dog and it gets freezing here.

In most puppy mill settings they are. You know, they leave them in the wire cages all the time. They should be fine!!!
