I mean all writing in general, including everything from school essays to a diary or short story.

Because it demonstrates your ability to effectively use language and to apply critical and analytical thinking skills to various topics.

When you are in school, effective writing skills can either help you demonstrate mastery of a subject OR can effectively help you BS your way through an essay test.

If you want to advance in many jobs or to pursue a professional career, you should also be aware that good writing skills are a priority and if you can't write well, you won't move up.

Writing is important because it challenges your mind. It's not enough to be able to verbalize your thoughts. Verbalizing and writing are 2 very different modes of communication. And you need all the communicative skills you can possibly get. You never know which communicative skill you have to apply. So train them all. Exercise them all.
Be a good writer.

Writing is extremely important because of many reasons. First, most jobs require some kind of writing, even retail--my dad writes reports on loss prevention all the time.

Besides, you have to have a way to express yourself besides through speech.

i think is because when in real life if u have to fill out a form and it can help u spell better.
