For atleast a week, I haven't been able to get comfortable in bed and stay asleep. I just toss and turn all night and no matter how I lay, I'm uncomfortable. I come home from work and go to bed because I'm soo exhausted and I can't sleep! Why is this? What can I do to sleep better?

I would guess you have a lot on your mind. Stress and worry makes for poor sleep. Purchase some time release melatonin. It works really well and helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. My insomniac husband and son with autism with ADHD both take it to help them sleep. It's fantastic. Once you start sleeping better you can relax easier during the day and hopefully break the cycle of exhaustion and sleeplessness.

Download relaxing nature sounds and play them as you try to fall asleep. You can also download hypnosis and meditative/relaxation programs in which a speaker's soothing voice will put you right to sleep. You can download it all for free on limewire.com. My favorite relaxation program is by Wendi Friesen, so if you want, just type her name in the search engine and try her sleep inducement/relaxation program. Also, try takig a warm bath, or at least a foot bath before bed. GIve yourself a light massage...massage your scalp, back of neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms, etc... Try to unwind and not focus on any of the day's troubles or what's to come tomorrow. If you're running a mental check list in your mind of what you need to do the next day, keepa journal by your bed, and write down all the things you need to remember and do for tomorrow, so that when you take it out of your thoughts and put it on paper, your mind is not preoccupied and will be calmer.

this sounds like over exhaustion!

an option is having a massage this releases toxins in your body which you could have a build up of due to stress. with massages you may feel ill the day after this is jus the toxins escaping

other than that there are not many remadies apart form have a good soak in the bath, also this worked for me unplugging all the electrics appliances in the bedroom (including the alarm clock!!)

Not a lot of information. What kind of work do you do? do you get enough exercise? Do you get adequate vitamins? especially the "B" complex? (a tablespoon of nutritional yeast in a glass of V-8 juice is good) How is your digestion? when in relation to bedtime was your last meal?- for best rest the stomach should be empty--- 5 hours between food and bed.
