Like the mundane details of life don't matter in the loooong run? Yes, I went through a "spiritual awakening" (for lack of a better term) a few years ago where everything from paying bills to working (also a writer) didn't matter a bit in terms of eternity. I wasn't particularly religious at the time, but after much contemplation, I came to the conclusion that the only thing worth doing when you think of it in terms of eternity is to serve a higher power. What is that higher power? God. I came to Eastern Orthodox Christianity because it was the first Church after the death of Jesus (when Christianity formed). It was the church of the Apostles and, I figured, they knew what they were doing.
Everything we do in this mundane life can either be empty or filled with meaning. Every day I ask that my words and my actions, no matter how minute, be for the Glory of God.
Hope that wasn't too long-winded and hope it answered your question.

Yeah, I felt like that all the time before I started to sit down and actually think out my philosophy. Now I still realise that in the big scope of things we are all very insignificant, but I am ok with that because I know I can still do very good things whilst I'm alive. It is normal and healthy (and I think the first step in becoming wiser) to have that happen. Peace.

I guess, it's commonly called zoning out, when you're thinking about something rather than concentrating on what you're doing. I think the reason this happens is because the things we do become so repetitive that our minds are bored and start wondering off.

Yes, I feel like my body is going through the motions of this life but I feel like I belong somewhere else. Kind of like surrealism.

Humans don't like being told what to think or do. Natural resentment from having to go through that as children.
We get all kingds of defensive reactions from people. Anger,
skepticism, and ridicule. Then the next day, you see them
telling someone the same thing you said.
Believe in yourself!

God will make necessary changes in you, and that might make you feel at the time that your are "going thorugh the motions" so to speak. Pray about this and God shall help you get through it.

Yeah. I recall "zoning out" on numerous occasions. Mostly caused by extreme boredom.
