Is this a crack? You might have cracked your nail and it just hasnt split yet. You might have a vitamin deficiency. If you not eating healthy or taking vitamins your nails may be unhealthy. Sometimes my nails get lines that are invisible but bumpy.

Was it white? When you get little white spots on your nails, that usually means that you don't have enough calcium. If it isn't like that, it's probably a crack. Good Luck with your nails!!

you have damaged your nailbed, where the nail grows. It's a waek spot, and will crack and break there more oftwn.

It has nothing to do with diet.

it's a nail bruise. You must have hit it against something.
