My friends breed Salukis, and they had a winning b!tch. The neighbors reported them for neglect, as they thought she was way too skinny! My friends showed the SPCA person the trophy that the b!tch had earned just the prior weekend, and were left alone, but with a WARNING! Ignorance runs rampant.
a warning meant that if there was another complaint, the dogs would be taken away..

Some people are ignorant and fanatical as well. They have this great concern for something yet know nothing about it. My friend tied his dog to the parking meter while he went into the Dunkin Donuts for a coffee to go. He was in there 2 minutes, but in that time, some woman had phoned the police to report the dog tied to the pole. Also, people sometimes make these type of false reports out of spite or revenge. Maybe a neighbour objects to the dogs barking outside so he makes a cruelty complaint hoping to get them out of your front yard. There are other individuals who just can't mind their own business. Good luck.

When you have people stealing dogs because they don't think they are getting enough attention, why would you think it would be any different for you?
Ridiculous, isn't it?
You said "tied up to a tree with no food or water in freezing weather, that's when you report animal abuse"
So does that mean if someone feeds and waters their dog a few times a day instead 24 hr access, they should be reported?
Chetco - I have friends with Salukis and Afghans as well. The one has even had people scream at her out of their car windows to feed her dogs. Ignorance is everywhere. People sometimes think my Whippets are emaciated as well, even the plump ones!

If you truly care about your dog, and other animals, then you should be happy that people are concerned enough to report you, even if they're wrong. Yes, it's true that some people may not know the benefits of an igloo, but at least they care about the animal to the best of their knowledge. Why should they approach you first instead of going to the authorities? What if you're a crazy person who starts a fight with them? I wouldn't ring the doorbell of a total stranger to complain to them...I could get killed!

Some nosy, know it all people are just like that. they think they know everything about everything and you cant tell them anything different cuz they dont want to her it, since they already know! Most dogs love it outside in the snow anyway and as long as the dog has a decent dog house, is fed, watered and loved it will be just fine!! One can assume it is a neighbor that doesnt like the way that "you" take care of "your" dog and doesnt have the balls or inclination to talk directly to you so that call animal control instead. I can dig it, Ive been there!

Yes, some people go way too fast with assumptions. They mean well, but jump to conclusions. I have seen some pretty bad stuff though, that people knew about and didn't report.
I bet some people don't give a second thought to people sleeping on sidewalks, but would report a caring pet owner.

Usually, people are just doing what they think is right for the animal. I guess when people see something that looks even a little suspicious, they think that someone is torturing their animals. It's really sad that people are reporting things like what you talked about, when millions of animals are being abused right under their noses and they don't do anything about it. It's just like what kids think about their parents. If they don't let them do this certain thing, they think their 'rents are mean, when really they're just doing what they think is best. (I don't think all kids are like this, just some.)

sure! If the canines is in obtrusive discomfort and the proprietors do not care sufficient about it to have the undesirable aspect operated on (they could have the funds for to have the canines groomed, yet won't be able to have the funds for vet-care?) then you actual could actual document it to Animal administration. As for the previous answer's remark on how Animal Shelters do not attempt to assist animals who're in want and that the canines ought to easily be placed down. Is it extra ideal to stay in consistent discomfort or to pass on gently? -and that i ought to easily want to ad that animal shelters are fantastically a lot continuously run on donations and characteristic to imagine about funding the healthy animals they receive. regrettably plenty shelters are literally not equipped with their own vet crew or the money to fund necessary surgical procedures. They do what they could at the same time as handling a blinded public who continuously label them because the "undesirable adult adult males".

Proably cause they have a boring life!!,, Maybe they are the one doing the animal cruelity and the guilt is getting to them. So they find a way to get others in trouble for their guilt. Some people have nothing better to do than cause trouble and be nosy. If you havent been mean to the animals dont let it bother you..

Why should we care that you were reported?
If you are leaving your dog outside 24 hours a day every day, then you should reconsider having a dog - unless it's a working dog. While I wouldn't ghave reported you, it is certainly a less than ideal situation for your poor dog.
