As previously stated capers are not the same as green peppercorns. Green Peppercorns come either pickled in brine or dried. The type you want to use depends of course on what your recipe calls for. Brained peppercorns can often be found in oriental grocers and both brined and died are available at specialty food shops. If these type of shops do not exist in your community then go to yahoo shopping and type in green peppercorns. They are available from many online companies

Not a juniper berry. A caper plant.

No, capers are not in the pepper family. They are usually sold pickled. Just use black peppercorns.

Capers are the unopened green flower buds of the Capparis spinosa a wild and cultivated bush that is grown mainly in Southern France, Italy, and Algeria and also in California. The taste is slightly astringent and pungent.

ha ha ha ha NO! Don't do it! Green peppercorns are, well, pepper and capers are pickled buds of a juniper bush I think. They taste kind of like sour pickled pine trees. Definately not interchangeable!
