I would not recommend wine clubs. Get your feet wet by going to wine tastings, wine dinners, wine happy hours and try to socialize and meet people who drink wine. Most wine clubs are for people in the industry who know each other and they are generally not a social event. Once you have met about 10 people, couples etc maybe you could start your own club with friends...

If you are looking for a wine club where people meet and taste wine, I would recommend wine brats or becoming a member of Orange County Wine Society. However, generally when you refer to a wine club, it entails signing up with a particular winery who will give you a discount for purchasing a certain number of bottles of wine per year.

Try Andrea Immer's wine club. She is the sommelier that's all over foodtv and fine living networks. Just go to the foodtv website and follow the links to her page. You can put your own tasting notes into a wine tasting journal to keep track of your wine tasting. She also has some clubs where she picks wines and has them delivered to your door. I haven't tried this as I live in a state that won't allow alcohol to be shipped to my door.

not CHARDONNAY till that's a crisp, acidic one, alongside with a French Chablis or a chardonnay from new york or from the Italian Alto Adiage. you want something to toughen the maple with salmon with teriyake. i might want to assert it truly is between the few recipes that demands a sparkling tasting, reasonably assertive gewurztraminer. in case you stay contained in the States and in a State that has approved dealer Joe's shops you're in success: TJ's now sells an low value gewurztraminer of the kind I describe less than its "3 dollar Moe" (J.W. Morris) label which I basically tried for the first time about a month in the past. basically between the ingredients I tasted it with turned right into a Quebec made maple smoked salmon! in case you could't stumble on a gewurztraminer of the variety attempt an Austrian gruner veltlinger. Bon appetit.

Why don't you start by letting us know where you are from? I could recommend a good one in Philadelphia, but that won't help you much if you live in Portland.
