If you are talking the whole tongue, allergies. And please be cautious with this, since food allergies can often lead to anaphalaxis.
I've had 3 serious reactions from a food allergy (unknown what it was at the time), twice the facial swelling (duck lips) and once the tongue. I went into the ER with the tongue at the same moment as a gunshot wound to the chest and guess who got the trauma unit first? Yes, the swollen tongue. Please be VERY careful. (Mine was/is lemons.)

you could be allergic to something but ask your Doctor he/she would know for sure.
