Something in the surrounding area is making it seem like mating season, where it probably wasn't happening before.

The biggest factors that makes birds want to lay eggs are:
- Too much daylight. Birds need at LEAST 12 hours of pure darkness and silence, and at least or more than 12 hours means it's winter, a bad breeding season.
- Too much food. If a bird feels there's enough food to feed her young, she'll try to have babies.
- Nesting. If there's a place for her to nest and lay eggs, she will take advantage of it. If you recently got her any hidey holes or areas like that, she thinks that's a good nest.
- Inappropriate petting. If you pet her anywhere but on the head, it'll be stimulating her the way a male mate would during mating season.

It happens, the eggs are infertile. Leave the eggs till she loses interest in them, if you take them she will lay more depleting her calcium. Make sure she has a calcium block or cuttlefish. Let her have 12 hours of darkeness/sleeptime. She thinks it is spring and she should breed. You can also change all the perches and toys arround and take out anything that could be used to build a nest.

hi and confident there needs to have been a male budgie modern-day to fertilize this egg any egg she lays and not utilising a male better half won't in any respect hatch yet hens of many puppy birds lay eggs all too offen it is why maximum chook proprietors choose a male chook as a puppy to aviod it ever laying eggs and transforming into egg sure. enable her shop the eggs until she abandons them, then you rather can eliminate them. confirm she has a cuttle bone and shop changing it because it gets rather chewed laying eggs takes lots of calcium for the egg shells and if she doesnt have sufficient she would be able to apply the calcium needed for retaining her physique and alter into unwell or egg sure and die.

All females budgies lay eggs without a mate.

What I do is boil the eggs mash them up shell also and give them back to her. It gives her more calcium.

I also give my budgies:

Salad Cress - Peas - Apple - Celery - Courgette - Sweetcorn - Watercress - Boiled Rice - Parsley Sprig - Grapes - Cucumber - Dandelion Leaves - Broccoli - Broad Beans - Carrot - Finger of bread soaked in water - Mashed Boiled Egg (shell also) - Tomatoes - Lettuce - Cooked Pasta - Radishes (leaves also) -

Millet Spray is an especially loved treat for birds, but it is important not to give this too often as they will refuse to eat their regular seed in favor of it!

Hormones , same as chickens , they lay eggs even if there is no cockeral about, get a male budgie for her , after 11 years she needs a little romance put in a nest box you will enjoy the antics they get up to rearing them.

She's a female bird...hens lay unfertile eggs all the time. I'm a bit surprised that a budgie has lived to 11, are you sure about that?
Maybe your old one died and someone got you a replacement while you were at work.

she is a girl and it is in her nature to lay eggs. even though they are eggs, they are not fertilized, because she is lone. when ever she is not looking and not in the cage, take the eggs out of the cage

Keep an eye on it, as mine was 7 years old when she started laying eggs, and she died when she couldn't pass one, it is called "egg bound", and if one gets stuck, you massage it out, I was told. Your girl bird is ovalating. You might want to direct any further questions to Bird Expert Chuck Wolmack at http://www.birdtricks.com I found this website very helpful with bird questions. As I have a budgie, [started out with 6, they do well in flocks, they tend to take care of one another, the last one lived 15 years] I had to get this one more to keep the last one company, but now this one seems content with it's toys. I also have inherited 2 parrots, one talks, & other birds. They are alot of work, and require alot of attention, but I am committed to taking care of them, as I love all our feathered & furry friends. Check out that website link, enjoy your bird.
