She will spend an hour or more on the phone texting. My concern is that the buttons could wear out and that the phone will be ruined. If I say anything to her mother (my daughter) she says that I am being mean and picky. Is it possible to ruin the phone by texting too much.

Thanks everyone for the help. I should have mentioned that we did get unlimited texting and that my husband and I have the bill in our names.

Well not to be rude or anything but the phone is built for this! Cell phone companies want you to get unlimited texting plans, it gives them money. If the buttons wore out that easily there would be a lot of angry people. I myself have a razor, have had it for a month and I already have put over 5000 text on it. Astonishingly my buttons still look like NEW!! Trust me the buttons will be fine, especially on the razor because the buttons are not like the buttons on a remote. They will not fade or fall off, its fine! Let them handle their own issues too. It's good of you to care but try to focus on more important issues. Its just a phone, it will be okay. Try not to stress and maybe if you feel it becomes a really big issue take her to go see her friends. I personally find that to be much more entertaining then texting anyway. Thus the issue is resolved. Hope this helped and didn't sound too harsh! :)

no you cannot ruin the phone by texting to much but you can run up the bill most companies charge ten cents a text so that can run up the bill really fast if you don't have unlimited text. No an if the buttons where to start wearing out most carriers upgrade phones every two years so she can get a new phone.

If an individual is sending abusive or insulting messages then they are committing offences under the telecommunications act. Report it to the police. Alternatively hey may be warned under the harassment act which is more likely. It should put a stop to their behaviour. Make sure you keep the messages and a note including date and time of any other behaviour towards you.

The phone is built to handle it. But I would not be concerned with the phone, I would be concerned with the phone bill.

How old is this kid?

If she's under 18, take the damned thing away from her, grandpa.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. MOST PEOPLE REPLACE THEM EVERY YEAR WHEN THEIR CONTRACT IS UP ANY WAY. AND BESIDES, IT'S BETWEEN YOUR DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTERS. SO TRY NOT TO SAY ANYTHING MORE ABOUT IT. IT'S THEIR BUSINESS.
