Buy a perch or something for the cat to hide in and get some alone time away from the puppy. My boyfriend and I just had the same problem, he has a cat and I have a 9 month old puppy. We bought a "cat castle" thing from a local pet store which lets her get away from my puppy. After a couple weeks my puppy got over her fascination with the cat and now they live together in a small apartment just fine.

The puppy will not stop acting like a puppy until he grows up, in about another year. What you can do is make a retreat for your cat, a box in a closet, somewhere high perhaps that that the dog can not get to so when she has had enough she can go hide from the puppy. In the mean time only supervised time with the two of them and a lot of play time with you and the puppy so he learns what is acceptable play vs what is not, you don't want the cat to scratch his eye or otherwise hurt him.

Buy something the cat can jump up onto to escape the dog.
Correct the dog with a sharp NO! anytime he pursues the cat.
I have two dogs and three cats. 2 cats were here before the dogs. 1 cat runs for the hills everytime the dogs come in, naturally the dogs chase her. The other cat stands his ground and smacks the dogs, the dogs no longer chase him.
I just got a kitten last month who adores to play with the dogs - they chase each other and wrestle and bite.
It's difficult with established cats. Make a barricade under your bed that the puppy can't get through but the cat can - AND buy something for the cat to jump up onto - a platform type thing so the cat can escape the puppy play.
Good luck!

When i got my cat i had a 2yr old dog. The dog always wanted to play while the cat wanted to sleep. The dog will calm down. It just has to get used to the cat try giving the puppy some toy so it will consitrant on the toy and not the cat.

You could try some of these ideas:
-buy a cat perch so the cat can jump on it and hide from the dog
-separate the house with a baby gate so your cat could stay on one side while the dog stays on the other
-when the dog wants to play with the cat, distract him with a toy and play with him yourself
-put them both on your lap when they are really sleepy and pet them. see if they mind each other.

get ready because the cat is going to let the puppy know that He doesn't want to play, you will hear when the puppy gets the word. The cat will slap the dog--hopefully only once and the dog will wise up and move on to something else to play with...Don't worry they will work the conflict out........

Get a baby gate. Block off one room with the gate so that your cat has a place she feels safe, and the puppy can't get into.
