1. yes one person can go to your gate with you, they just need to show the check in person their ID to get a guest gate pass and go thru security.

2. airport staff is very helpful... when you get off your plane just say "hi, i've never been in this airport before, how do i get to Gate ___?" also they have a lot of signs posted telling you which way to go.

I dont think that you will get lost. Everything is written really clearly where to go etc., on the screen when you check in. You can always ask other people or the staff from the airport. They will surely help you. Just take care that you are there in time, so you are not in a rush in case you get lost.
Have a nice trip.

If you are under 18 and traveling alone, most airline companys have a crew member transport you to your gate and make sure you board on the right plane at the right time. Don't worry, and bring a change a of clothes in yuor carry-on in case your luggage gets lost. I would also reccomend bringing a magazine, ipod/mp3, book or dvd player.

Everything is marked clearly in airports, but there are always people working in the airport who can assist you. Don't worry. Enjoy your trip. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time! Don't wait until the last minute. It's better to be way early than pushing it.

You will be fine! Ask for directions when you check in and again when you go through security. When you are on board tell a flight attendant that this is your first time traveling alone and ask for directions and instructions for when you arrive. Make sure you carry contact info with you for the person who will be meeting you at your destination!

no need to be afraid...just be alert and not afraid to ask questions. for the most part, it seems that airport personnel in the US are pretty helpful.
from your concerns, my initial thoughts are that you should, obviously, get to the airport early to give yourself extra time to get to your gate and take care of any other things you need to do prior to checking-in. if you should feel lost, just ask airport staff - with the advantage of getting to the airport early, you shouldn't feel stressed by being in a time-crunch even if you do get lost.

Airports make me very anxious, so I always show up way before my flight leaves and give myself plenty of time to find my way around. Some huge airports are huge and confusing, but things are usually clearly marked, and as long as you're calm and paying attention you shouldn't have any trouble.

you can ask your parents to request a gate attendant to accompany you or you can request that yourself as you are checking in the day of your flight. Itll be fine. Enjoy your flight.

Don't be, everybody is kind and looks out for you because you're young and travelling alone. It will be a great experience, I promise you'll have the time of your life.
