Just read that most flights out of the UK will cost £5 more from Feb 1! Because of emmisions etc etc. Where does my £10 (return fare tax go) Have the UK govt' got a pool of money put on one side to dedicate all this money to.......what? Stop people flying? Build lots of very long range gliders? Ditto the extra car tax for large engined cars, where is that going, are they giving away peddle bikes? Where is the money going????

It all goes into the government pot. Most of it comes out as benefits. The next biggest chunk is the NHS. People keep moaning about how bad services are - but you get what you pay for.

The sanctimonious reason for these taxes is to deter people from flying and killing all life forms on the planet. As if what we in the UK do will in any way affect anything at all; not while the USofA, India and China (the main producers of such emissions) seem uninterested in taking measures to reduce pollution.
