the discs can be created directly from within windows.....however if you need to reinstall windows or want to boot from a disc, its better to use a cd rather than several floppies, and if you have the operating system disc you can actually install the recovery console and have it be one of the bootup options, for troubleshooting and file recovery options without the disc being involved.
To install the Recovery Console, follow these steps:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons where d is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.
4. A Windows Setup Dialog Box appears. The Windows Setup Dialog Box describes the Recovery Console option. To confirm the installation, click Yes.
5. Restart the computer. The next time that you start your computer, "Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" appears on the startup menu.

Dude I don't think Xp comes on floppy disk format lol. Dude I haven't even held a floppy disc for like 5 years the format is redundant.
If you have a code key and license but have lost the disk contact microsoft directly and get a replacement. I doubt they will charge you the earth for it.

From your disk case. You can try to get them from Microsoft.com and try to upload it. But they are able to determine if you already have legal windows XP software or they might ask for serial numbers. You can also try System Restore.

well it may be hard to get it for free but if you have the authorization of your computer then you could take it to best buy or wherever you got it from and show proof that its yours. And then they could probably hook you up for little or no charge. Depends on their store warranty hope this helps :)
