I'm not overweight or anything, and I do excerise when I get the chance, but I've been having this problem with snacking..and its really starting to make me worried about my weight! I don't want to keep snacking on junk at midnight or whenever I pass the fridge..I know its not good and I want to break the habbit.

Any suggestions?

You need to address the reason *why* you are snacking. Are you truly hungry? Are you just bored? Is it just a habit? Once you've figured that out, you can begin to control it.

If you're hungry, you aren't eating enough through the day. Make sure you have a big breakfast, healthy snack, big lunch, healthy snack, and a smaller dinner. You can add another small healthy snack in the evening if you feel you need it. You should feel hungry in the morning - if not, you're overeating.

The best way to not eat junk food is to not even bring it into the house. If you can be strong and resist it while you're at the grocery store, it's a lot easier to resist at home. Since most cravings only last a few minutes, if you can avoid snacks for that long, it will likely pass.

Make sure you have healthy snacks available. Fruit, dried fruit, etc is good to help curb a sweet craving. Hummus and vegetables and/or whole wheat pita are another healthy snack.

Snacking is GOOD for you. As long as you do it properly.

The human body is naturally set up for eating small meals ( i e: snacks) every four hours or so. In fact if you go longer than that your body goes into "starvation mode", because it "thinks" that food is scarce, and starts to store more fat and break-down protein for energy.

What's important is that you eat the proper foods and amounts when you snack. In the morning you should eat some complex carbs ( like oatmeal, or a whole grain muffin) and some lean protein ( I usually drink a chocolate protein shake). Mid-morning is a good time for a yogurt or some cottage cheese Maybe some fruit( fruit is best eaten after high energy output, because it provides simple carbs that your body can use immediately. For lunch you should balance protein( like chicken breast) with some green veggies. Mid-afternoon snack should be similar to the mid-morning, and eat a balanced dinner.
That is five meals a day. For more information I would suggest reading Body For Life, it is full of information and is inspiring.

It is a question of what not when you eat. If instead of having junk available to snack on have fruits and vegetables already cut up easy to munch. If this does not appeal to you consider popcorn without any thing on it. That will limit the unhealthy additions and still help you feel full.
