I never use turbo tax and I have stopped doing the tax's myself. I now pay someone smarter than me to handle any tax things.

Our accountant has saved us thousands of dollars with his knowledge and I will gladly pay a few hundred for it. The government changes the tax codes and laws annually and I refuse to try and keep up with it. Paying for a highly intelligent tax accountant is just my way of having extra insurance. The IRS calls, my accountant takes care it...aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh how peaceful !!!

ALWAYS have people smarter than you working FOR you !!!

Turbo tax will be more accurate like a calculator. You probably did something wrong manually.

Personally I prefer using software, though not Turbo Tax. If you are getting substantially more by doing it yourself I'd have to question the accuracy of your work. You may be claiming things you shouldn't.

I had the opposite experience.... I tried working it out manually and found that I owed money. Then, I got TurboTax and I ended up getting a refund.

I've been using it for years and find it very easy and reliable.

I'd say Turbo Tax as it checks your return for errors and/or missed deductions. Also you can file online with Turbo tax.
