What is the best kind of dog food and the best name(either Artimis are Zeus)for my new Catuhula Cir?

I'm getting this new dog and it is going to be half Blue Tick,Black & Tan,and Catuhula Cir.I'm tring to find a way to name it the best name I can.Artimis,Zeus,or Posidden.I am also trying to pick the best brand of dog food so he will live for a lonnnnnng time.Any suggestions?

I think Artimus would be a fine name for a Catahoula.
You won't find the best brand of dog food at the grocery store. My fave brand is Canidae, but Innova, Wellness, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, and Wysong are all excellent kibbles that will help your dog live a long and healthy life...You will find these brands in local pet supply shops and livestock supplies..All of them will carry at least some of the above.

Dog food is a good question, if you want to shorten your dogs life use the commerical foods like Iams, Eukanuba, Pedigree, Science Diet and etc, these foods are awful. I have researched dog foods for 8 months now and I am idsgusted that these foods are even on the market. Iams uses rendered meat which is a mixtured of meat from road kill. it is usually sick or dying and diseased animals and the sick enough dogs and cats euthanized from animal shelters. The important thing is to read ingredients, you never want to see rendered meat, or by-product, the first 4 ingredients should always be a protein. The first being a meat. You never ever want to see the preservatives BHA,BHT and especially Ethoxyquin all are carcinogens and Ethoxyquin is a pesticide (which Science Diet uses)
Your best bet are the Holistic Foods, the most natural one is Life's Abundance which can only be ordered on line (it is made fresh and shipped). If you go to www.dogfoodzone.com they break down the major foods. Innova is excellent, Raw Instinct, Canidae is also a good one.
Artimis is an awesome name. My Lab is nameTriton who is from mythology.

Artemis was a goddess, so if it's a male dog I'd stay away from that. Poseidon and Zeus are pretty common gods but definitely stick with the Greek names, not the Roman ones. What about Ares, Hermes, Eros, or Apollo? Or one of the heroes like Theseus, Odysseus, or Perseus?

As far as the dog food, I feed mine Canidae All Life Stages and I think that's the best.

I would recommend food by Merrick or from Wellness. A good way to see if the food is good is to look at the ingredients and see what the first ones are. A lot of foods start with names like CHICKENMEAL and have corn and other things. Merrick starts Turkey, Oatmeal, Barley etc.

Iams, Eukanuba and a lot of the other foods do a great advertising campaign, promising the best, but the ingredients speak for themselves.

Feed a good quality dog food. The ones you can buy at local grocery stores are usually not good, especially "Ole Roy". That is the absolute worst dog food in the world.
I like Neutro Natural Choice. It comes in every stage of your dogs life so you can feed the same food for his lifetime from puppy stage all the way to senior stage and it is a very good quality dog food. It is usually sold at Petco or Petsmart.
On the names, those are all good names, just choose whichever one you like best because your dog doesn't really care.

Anything you can buy at your vet will be a good choice. The grocery store food is usually filled with lots of junk..not the best choice.

Out of your name choices i like "Artimis" the best! Zeus is really quite common. Artimis is original and people will comment on it..saying wow..cool name!

My sister feeds her Catahoula Cur dog Nutra Natural Choice - he is VERY muscular and has a great(thick, soft) coat. She had been feeding him Iam's and his coat was kind of coarse feeling and he always looked scrawny.
Another good food is Royal Canin - I fed it to my Chesapeake for 6 years. Had to quit because for some reason she started gaining weight much too easily on it. (Now she gets Nutro Natural Choice)
One question - how can a dogs ancestry be THREE "halves"?????

Artemis is a great name. As for dog food, Id have to say Innova, Canidae, Solid Gold or Natural Balance, those are all great brands.
