I met this new kid in school on his first day. (About 2 months ago) I went into the office and they told me to give him a tour of the school and I did. I don't have any classes with him but I always see him around and say hi to him and talk to him for a while. Then over the last 2 weeks I've been thinking of him in a different way and it seems as if he's flirting with me a lot. My friends all tell me that with the way we talk were both flirting a lot and having a good time. And on Friday, I told him that I liked him. His reaction was (Nervous, surprised laugh) Wow um.. you hid it very well.. um Well Thanx for telling me and he and I walked off because he had to go to work and I had to get to an audition. So my question is what can that mean? He didnt ask me out then even though he had the perfect opportunity.. Does that mean he doesn't like me? Should I just give up and move on before I get hurt? or should I just leave things alone and wait to see if he asks me out?

Today at school, we didnt talk like usually. He only waved to me instead of kissing me on the cheek (its a spanish thing) and we didt talk at all. I think I mightve just made a huge mistake by teling him this. i think our friendship might suffer because of this.

You probably caught him off guard, took him by surprise. He is still new and don't know anyone yet.Let him get familiar with everything and comfortable with his surroundings, keep talking to him, that will let him know you are interested in him.Offer to show him around the area if he isn't from around there.Let nature take its course. If something becomes of it...great if not....well you have made a new friend.

You put the ball in his court. Let him ask you out now. He was kind of shocked because usually girls are shy to tell a guy they like them. Let it sink in and see what happens. I know some guys can't think immediately after hearing those kinds of words so just let it be and keep being yourself, it seems like he likes that. :)

It could mean he doesn't like you, or (Not trying to be funny) perhaps he prefers males. The third possibility is that he is shy and was somewhat taken off guard by your statement.
I would suggest you continue to play this situation out and see where it goes.
