I woke up in a bright and optimistic mood today and it stayed with me until about half an hour ago when i read and answered the question, "what stops you from just ending it all", this reminded me how much i hate life, the world etc, and now i can't shake this depressed feeling, i'm not hormonal although i can never be happy and menustrating at the same time. Why can't i just be happy? I'm always weighing up the pros and cons of life and i know that things could be worse, don't know if i really expect any answers, just wanted someone to know that i feel like shite! Thanx. I might even feel a bit better now.

Stop overthinking things so much.. that will stress anyone out.. we all tend to do it from time to time.. that's life.. Try to keep yourself busy, and preoccupied.. this is what helps for me.. if I have too much time to reflect on things.. I tend to find myself being like you.

I don't know if you're bipolar (manic depressive) or not for I'm not a doctor. There's many different faces to being bipolar. Some symptoms will be the same in all patients while some won't. There's Bipolar I, Bipolar II, & Rapid cycling bipolar plus lots of different symptoms. Anyway, I know how you feel & as I can't diagnose you, I will give you a link to my 360 blog page where I just posted how this disorder affects me. You may see some similarities to yourself or you may not. Hopefully, I've helped some.

Just because you have mood swings does not make you bipolar. Bipolar disorder needs to be diagnosed by a medical professional. Life is rough but there is always someone who has it worse than you. Be happy for the blessings that you have because tomorrow is not guaranteed. If you seriously feel like you have a mental disorder see a doctor there are wonderful treatments available.

I feel exactly the same. The best thing to do in my opinion is to keep yourself occupied so those thoughts about the cons of life don't come into your head as often. Also, a friend told me that she used to feel this way and what she did to fix it was decide to make a purpose for herself in life...just to feel like she had meaning. I haven't tried this yet but it sounds like it could work. Good luck.

To some extent this sounds like normal human condition. Bipolar is more acute and extreme.

If you believe in spiritual or mind/body connection theories, which are gaining more support in recent medical research, then consider the following:

"Manic Depressant - A genetic inherited mental problem. It is through the recessive gene through the mother’s 26th chromosome that is defective. It produces a permanent reduction of serotonin levels. TX with lithium is the chemical management tool. Long-term manic depressants can become psychotic, a person demonstrating this is very dangerous, because they need professional attention and drugs until it can be dealt with spiritually. This person goes from high to lows, depression to mania. The psychotic stage of manic depression, they will commit suicide and try taking someone along with them.. Lithium is a drug of choice, but is NOT a cure. Only manages the problem. (Clinical depression differs from Manic Depression.) Male victimization causes manic depression in women." - Quoted from: http://www.mindsync.com/lam/root.htm
which I believe ultimately comes from this book: http://www.amazon.com/More-Excellent-Way-Teaching-Spiritual/dp/0967805910

I am the same too! I could be in a great mood one minute then the slightest thing will bring me down. Your not alone. Its the way you are, you can't help it. All you can do (as I do) is whenever you feel yourself sliding down say to yourself "I am better than this". It sounds ridiculous but it works for me! I put my moodswings down to being an unpredictable Gemini!

easy done - but what is better is fighting the crap feeling about hating life and telling yourself all the good things that are going on - It doesnt work at first but soon you get into the habit of fighting your bad moods (well that and good medication) - hope this helps

Kiddo,

It takes a lot of effort to be happy all the time. People who are always happy, it makes me smile and it's sometimes contagious.

Other times I want to stick a fork in their eyes.

See your GP. Or just do what the rest of us do and get on with it. Life is hard for everyone, you're not the only one. Only most of us don't bleat on about it endlessly.
