I've liked the same girl secretly for a year. She's had a boyfriend the whole time but they just recently broke up (about 3 weeks ago). She and I are friends, and I dont want to do anything to jeopardize that. How long should I wait before asking her out?

I think that depends on her. As her friend, you know her well, and you would know whether she would be open to dating again now. There isn't any set amount of time, but there are a few things to consider, like do you want to risk the possible negative consequences of revealing your feelings to someone who until this point has only seen you as a friend? Also, since it has only been three weeks, there is the distinct possibility that you may end up a rebound. It really depends on how deep her relationships with both her boyfriend and you were. If you get a vibe that she feels the same way about you, then go for it, but don't push things, because she may still be trying to get over her ex (likely). Whatever you do, good luck, and if she says no, try not to let it hurt your relationship too much. It's better to have her as a friend than not have her at all.

that's similiar to my situation. My boyfriend and i have broken up like 2 weeks ago and there are a few guys who want to take a chance with me. In a way, i don't feel like i'm completely over my relationship so i would wait because i wouldn't want to use anyone as a rebound. fyi, i like the company that the person gives me. get to know her and see if it leads on. make sure she doesn't lead you on and then leave you. so don't keep your hopes up too high.

well i say wait a while, maybe a couple weeks or so, and then give her hints that you like her, and see if she likes you back... if you know for sure she doesnt like you the way you like her, then do not ask her out.... but if you think theres a chance she does, or if she really does, then go for it! good luck!
