If the only income you have is SS, and you have no assets, and you owe back taxes, can the IRS attach your SS and if so, how much can be attached? Thanks.

ask a lawyer, but I am pretty certain the answer is yes. Better yet, contact the IRS and explain your situaton - they will come up with a repayment plan or forgive some or all of the debt.

yes, amt depends on how much you receive. Contact IRS it is possible they may determine you have no ability to pay and they will suspend collection, or you may be a good candidate for an Offer in Compromise, where you can settle the tax debt for less than the total you owe.
