How long does the papers take? I gave them my overseas physical since December.

I have seen it take as long as 6 months. Depends on where you are going to, and that area's regs regarding Command Sponosrship. Many places in Germany, for instance, require that on base housing be obtained before family members can come over.. and if there is a waiting list, than you have to wait until a unit becomes available.

Another thing, there is no policy regarding turnaround time for CS requests like there is for Leave and other requests, which have to leave each desk it comes to within 72 hours.

We always PCS'd with my husband. i asked his first shirt and he said it can take up to 6 months for the paperwork to go through. He said it usually goes much faster but it depends on the location. Iceland is always 6 months

I can't tell you since we've never done an overseas tour, but the military wheels turn slowly.

It shouldn't take to long. Do you already have your passport? That will make the process faster. Tell your husband to make sure that he stays on top of his squad leader or platoon sergeant to make sure that they are continously following up on his paperwork. enjoy your tour.

just depends on the unit, if i were him i would bug the crap out of them to get it done
