I'm just curious about that. If somebody goes to South Korea and brings up North Korea in a conversation, is that considered rude? What would happen? I'm not sure about the relationship between North and South Korea, so I'm just wondering about that.

The South Koreans are very vigilant about guarding their country against any infiltration or possible invasion by the North Korean regime. However, they are very sympathetic to the common people of the North. many of whom are actually their blood relatives (remember: Korea was one country prior to 1946-48).

The South Korean government has been actively talking to the Northern regime in the past decade or so aiming at easing tensions between the two, helping the Northern people with medical and food relief and facilitating family visits across the DMZ. They and the North both say they hope to peacefully unite again some day and are working hard to overcome many obstacles toward that goal.

You will not offend the Southerners by mentioning North Korea in a conversation as long as you don't clamp them up with American propaganda (the Axis of Evil talk) or make it seem you're overly sympathetic to the North (they'll think you're trying to bait them into disclosing similar sentiments. The former dictatorial regimes in South Korea used to bait people that way, then accused and arrested them for having pro-Northern sentiments. Many still remember!)

Obama can say something he needs. He opposes the Iraq conflict because of this that if a Military base was once blown up and one hundred,000 humans had been killed, and if we attacked that country we could unfastened 1, he would not assault. He could simply permit the ones humans die in useless. He is a peace giver and if he could again SK, then he could have invaded NK. China, needs their $thirteen trillion bucks again, so they're going to move after us with North Korea, since they recognize we will be able to now not be ready to pay all of the a refund, so they're going to assault. Russia's infrastructure is crumbling. They have to make a transfer and probably end up the Soviet Union once more. That could intent them to move after The United States with China since in the event that they defeated the US, they don't have a chance to country wide safeguard as they did for the period of the Cold War.

Well, if the conversation is going that way, it's no problem! Older people will tell you that they want reunification, while younger people don't care one way or the other.

If you doubt what I say, check my screen name. koreateacher96 means I've been teaching in Korea since 1996. I DO know a few things about the country!

No...it;s the other way around. Don't mention S. Korea, freedom of choice, democratic government, free speech, prosperity, Playboy magazine or anything cool to N.Koreans...you may get shot...then again, the N Koreans have no idea what they're missing.
