Assuming you don't want to hurt him, tell him you're just at a bad stage in your life and can't commit to a relationship right now. Then you can always go for the "it's not you, it's me" phrase. Or use it as an opener.

You can tell him you are going to try lesbianism.

You can tell him it's just not working for you, or you met someone else.

The possiblities are endless, but stressing that it isn't his fault and even white-lying that it's a bad time for you and you need to focus on school/work./family will lessen the blow...if you want to.

Umm depends. If you dont have any intention of seeing the guy again say Sorry but we need to breakup and state your reasons why. If you do want to see him, say lets break up and still be friends.

"It's over between us; I don't want to see your face again. I don't want to be your friend; if you want a friend, get a f*cking dog." Or "I'm pregnant, but it's not yours. I've been screwing(pick the biggest, hairiest Cro-Magnon you both know) Harry from down at the fruitstand on Elm and 3rd. He said if you have anything to say, he'd love to turn you into a greasy spot on the pavement." That ought to hold him...

SAy that you have commitment problems, and that you arent the "boyfriend" kind, just the "friend" kind. That you'd rather have lots of close "friends" than a boyfriend.

Sexy, because they'll automatically think you mean "Friends with benefits" kinda friend, yet they get the message.

You've got to be honest. You shouldn't have to go into specifics with him because this isn't something you want to debate over. Let him know that this just isn't something that is working out for you and that you hope you aren't hurting his feelings but you want to move on.

Best of luck to you!

I just want to be friends.
It usually works because usually you were just friends before you met the guy, so just say that that was better.
Be very honest, if he has no sense of humur, say it.
