How is its free to call Europe with Vonage? It doesnt seem right? Whats the catch?

You pay a monthly fee for it so that's how they stay in business. By transmitting their phone calls encrypted over the internet, they save money from having to go through the phone companies lines. They probably transfer the calls from one of their servers to another one of theirs located in Europe so they save a lot on tolls.

I have Vonage and it's great. All you need is a good high speed internet service. You can't call everywhere in Europe for free, and you definitely can't call European mobile phones for free, but other than that, you just pay the monthly tariff and you can make unlimited free calls.

When you sign up, they provide you with a free Vonage adapter that sits in between your cable modem and your computer. Sometimes they offer a free cordless phone that will hook into it, or you can hook it into your existing telephone wiring in your house if you disconnect your old phone service.
