My Ford Expedition has just rolled 100,000 miles should I be worried about the timing belt?? And how much does it coast to replace?
What mechanic is good to go see I live in Snohomish county Washington about 25 miles north of seattle.

The 5.4 liter ford runs off of a timing chain. Unlike a timing belt there is no scheduled replacement of the chain. If you dont notice any drivability issues, then you are safe to leave it alone.

There are many factors involved that affect fuel consumption and just because an engine has a smaller displacement doesn't necessarily mean that it will get better fuel economy. These vehicles should get very close to the same but you may have maintenance issues with the Dodge such as worn spark plugs, dirty air filter, low tire pressures or even possibly an oxygen sensor that has degraded to the point where it is affecting fuel economy but not bad enough to where it is seen as a problem by the computer. Have it checked for maintenance needs and replace the oxygen sensor if the car has more than 80k . Good luck.

Before you tune that beast up do a google search for Ford Spark Plug Blow out. Pay close attention. THe number 3 cylinder on that motor only has about 3 threads in it. Once you take out the plugs and replace them, chances are it's going to blow out on it's own. That is about a $3000 repair. I will never tune mine up again. As a matter of fact I would dump it before it's too late. Consumer affairs is getting 1-3 complaints a day on this. PLEASE take the time to check it out. I'm just trying to help.

Your Ford Expedition DOES NOT have a timing belt. It uses two timing chains, which do not require servicing.

I would like to add it's time to have your Expy serviced. Look in your owner's manual and it should tell you all the service items that need to be replaced or serviced.

Thanks for buying Ford.

2 timing chains, I wouldn't worry if you change your oil often, they usually last forever, though if the oil isn't change often the chain guides might wear.
