My sister and I are both Christians. We believe that we can only be saved through our Lord Jesus, Son of God. My question is, if the Jewish faith does not believe that Jesus was the messiah and was sacrificed for our sins, why do Jews not practice sacrificing animals anymore. Shouldn't you abide by the rules in the Old Testament if that's all you believe in? I am very earnest in my question, so please give an earnest answer. TY!

Jael, If I'm understanding your question correctly, you want to know why we think it is ok to eat the "unclean" animals? I am still in infancy in my faith, and I will have to research that. As Jews have their traditions, I have mine...eating bacon for breskfast! LOL! But I can say that for the most part, no, OT rules do not apply anymore with the first coming of Christ. Of course there are the Ten Commandments, but things such as tithes and sacrifices are not commanded anymore. While tithes are necessary for the financial support of your church, you are not commanded by law to give your 10%. Thank you for the answers. I'm still a little confused on why you can't sacrifice without your one chosen temple, but I will have to research more. Sorry, alot of words were used that I didn't understand. Last note...I also pray for God's chosen in the Holy Land. It breaks my heart to hear people tearing them down on this Q&A. One day, they will understand...

God gave us the Torah. No man on earth has ever met the criteria (in the Torah) that will occur when the messiah enters earth. It's as simple as that.

Temple sacrifices have been suspended because there is no Temple, which was destroyed by Romans in 70 Common Era.

A new temple cannot be built at this time because the Muslims have built their mosque upon the site of the Second Temple, and Jews will not dare to destroy the mosque for fear of a major jihad.

Those that MAKE THE EXCUSE that they cannot offer Animal Sacrifice DO NOT EVEN KNOW THEIR OWN = = JEWISH SCRIPTURES!

When the Kingdom was rent from King David and divided after Solomons death there were the divisions of and in Israel.

There were Animal Sacrifice was carried out BY BOTH GROUPS!

Just like the Africomen at the Passover, which is a Greek Word, [what has that to do with a Jewish Holy Day] and many Other Jewish Practices that have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SCRIPTURES, - but are a Part Of Simply Jewish TRADITION!

(Mark 7:5-to-9) Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

(Mar 7:6) He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

(Mar 7:7) Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

(Mar 7:8) For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

(Mar 7:9) And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Thanks, RR

The Jewish people are GOD'S chosen people and trust me if the Temple of David was able to be rebuilt and sacrifices were offered and the blood of those sacrifices was sprinkled on the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant there would be no more problems in the Middle East.
As a Christian Pastor I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and fully support the restoration of the Land of Israel to it's GOD given borders.

Why do you think the temple was destroyed??? you're right you can't sacrifice without a temple, God fufilled this commandment through the Messiah, the ripping of the curtain between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies at the death of Jesus- explain that?
and christians eat unclean food because peter had a vision from God in the NT, saying that eating unclean food is ok.
Christians follow the fufilled tenach- NT

and where that guy is quoting all of those quotes from Mark, Mark is in the New testament... Jewish people dont believe in the NT therefore its not really a great argument against them....
but i can ask why dont Jewish people read Isaiah 53 in the synagogue?
Isaiah 53 is a prophecy of the suffering of the Messiah.
1Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.

8 By oppression [a] and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was stricken. [b]

9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes [c] his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life [d] and be satisfied [e] ;
by his knowledge [f] my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, [g]
and he will divide the spoils with the strong, [h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

exactly what happened to Jesus...

I cannot explain anymore further than what the previous two did. They did a great job!

Now, my question to YOU is: if you know full well that Yeshua was a Jew, why do Christians eat unclean foods forbidden by Jewish law? Don't you think that the OT laws applies to you as well?

If I could rate for the best question asked, yours would be one of them.

We need a Temple for sacrifices, and we don't know exactly where on Temple Mount the Altar goes. (Deuteronomy 13-ish) Also see Hoshea 14:3.

We cannot offer scarifices without a Temple. right now, Al Aqsa Mosque is on the site of our ancient Temple built by Solomon.
Being Jewish consists of observing Shabbat, keeping kosher & studying Torah.
However, Jews are as diversified as every other religion. There are secular Jews, Reformed, Conservative, Conservadox, Orthodox, Ultra Orthodox, Ultra, Ultra Orthodox & Sat Mars!
