The answer you search for is in the chapter ITSELF.
17Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." 18For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 21For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

Sure. Jesus was a man. He was God in the flesh who was in submission to the father all scripture will show this is true. The flesh should always be in submission to the spirit. It is the flesh of man who is tempted. Christ was a part of God and he was in the flesh and was always following the order of God. When God created man he made his body and then the spirit and we are submit our flesh ot the spirit. feel free to e-mail or message me.

As a man on earth, he gave up his godly authority, he did nothing without his Father, God, telling him to do so. He is our example. When he was hanged on the cross, buried, and rose again the third day, he then regained his godly authority. and it is " I can of mine own self do nothing; as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."

Jesus was God in the flesh, but He didn't want people to worship things of flesh, so He taught us to worship God the Spirit.

Good quote. I too, don't understand how they believe that. But, I forgive them, if it makes it easier for them to learn from Jesus.
