It is bad for your metabolism to skip meals. Even if you are not hungry, you should still eat something every 3 or 4 hours at minimum. That is one of the first things yuo should learn before starting a good diet. Not only do you need healthy food, but you need meals close together. 3 medium sized meals and 2-3 small snacks in between is ideal.

If you are really not hungry, don't force yourself to eat meat. Try to eat some fruits and vegetables and drink a glass or two of milk or eat a few eggs. Sometimes I don't feel hungry until I eat something. You have to eat earlier in the day to get your metabolism going (this can help increase your appetite). Although it is possible to go with out food, it is very unhealthy. If you eat foods that aren't extra filling you won't feel weighed down. As gross as it may sound.. if you aren't regular this can have something to do with your lack of appetite.
**By the way... you don't need 2000 calories a day.. some women can't eat this much. You should however eat at least 1200 to keep your body from storing fat, etc.

It is necessary to eat every day of the week. If you don't you will make your system store food for longer the next time you eat, which is not always a good thing. Best thing to do is get some exercise to build up your appetite e.g. go for a walk, play football etc

The following information is based on being healthy. There is research out there that suggests the 40 day fast in the wilderness (biblibal) is possible. The danger is that after 40 days (for a healthy adult) the body will start eating its own organs. Is it safe not to eat every day if you are grown to the age of accountability (13) in Jewish tradition - yes, there are many days that call for a fast. Under that age however I would be extremely careful.

You should eat everyday. But it is not necessary to eat everyday. Your body runs on the vitamins and nutrients it gets from food, while at the same time storing them for emergencies, like you not eating. That would be considered an emergency to your body, and it would start storing nutrients cause it doesn't know when it will get food again. That's why people who try to diet by not eating don't lose wait at first. Also not eating hinders your thinking and motor skills slightly. But to cut it short YES it is necessary to eat every day but not life threatening if you dont

NO! There are some that Fast weekly and some even go on extended Fasts either for Health or Religious reasons!
There is a plethora of information about Fasts on the Internet. Some time ago, I practiced a 'one day a week fast' where I abstained from Solid Food. I just drank liquids and within a month I found that my body adjusted accordingly.
Thanks, RR

you need to have certain vitamins and minerals and some fat, fiber and water to keep you healthy. I read a book once that you can "not eat" for up to 10 days a month and still be safe (some religions do a lot of fasting too), but over that you'll hurt yourself. I've tried for one month at not eating for 3 (non-consecutive) days and I know that will not hurt you. You will need to supplement with vitamins and minerals (thru pills) though. Someone once told me that in jails when people go on hunger strikes and refuse to eat that they are force fed, at least one egg to make sure the person's system doesn't shut down.

Not absolutely necessary, but highly advisable.
If you go a whole day without feeling hungry there is more than likely an under-laying reason for it. Stress can reduce appetite as can a number of physical ailments.
If this happens often you should see your doctor.

I see you have got a few judgemental answers especially the one stating you are anorexic which, if you don't eat simply because you have no appetite, you are not.
The simple truth is you can live a full life eating only 3 times a week, however it is not healthy and your full life may be shortened considerably and you probably would have ill heath. Yes you can but it is not recommended
