Ok i don't eat red meat and i just found out from my moms friend that i need to. Her doctor said that red meat has iron in it and if i dont eat it i could have an acne problem and have paler skin. Is this true? And if it is what foods have iron in them and what exactly does iron do?

Chances are, if you eat a balanced diet (even if you exclude red meat) you are getting plenty of iron. All these food are good sources or iron:
Shrimp
Sardines
Turkey
Enriched breakfast cereals
Cooked beans and lentils
Pumpkin seeds
Blackstrap Molasses
Canned beans
Baked potato with skin
Enriched pasta
green peppers

Actually...the list is ridiculously long so don't worry. And there are always supplements.

Most vegetables are fruits aid in iron absorption (its the vitamin C in combination with the iron)...so they are also important.

As for the skin problem...generally speaking, that can happen if you have a deficiency of any kind, but it isn't like overnight or anything...you would have to be a poor eater. Hope this helps!

actually cereal like Lucky Charms has iron in them, if you even want to check you can crush up some into a really fine powder and let it sit for a few days and take a magnet and the iron will come out of it. I'm not sure exactly what iron does for your body but i know that you can also put it on mretty much anything as long as you don't put too much on there. I hope you figure this out

How do you think vegetarians and vegans get iron?;) Yes red meat has iron in it but it is not the only source, so you don't have to eat it. Dried beans and nuts, whole grains and fortified grains, and leafy vegetables all have iron in them. Eating a source of vitamin C with plant sources of iron increases absorption.

First of all, red meat is an excellent source of protein, iron, zinc, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12.

Now read this about a lack of vitamin B, which could be due to lack of red meat:
B group vitamins contained in this preparation, i.e. B1 (thiamine) vitamin, B6 (pyridoxine) vitamin, folic acid and pantothenic acid improve blood circulation, support formation of erythrocytes, affect nerve system, immunity of organism, growth of cells and their propagation positively. They support metabolism of proteins, absorption of amino acids and para-amino-benzoic acid, support better utilization of vitamins and transformation of proteins, fats and saccharides into energy. It has been proved that their lack can result in acne, skin scale formation, inflammations in mouth and on lips, poor healing of wounds, hair falling out and turning grey and excessive skin greasing.

Without sufficent vitamin B and Iron in your system, your skin will become pale due to anemia.

My sources are listed below. Hope that helps.
